About me

I'm Nick, the man behind this site. I live in the UK, and I've been living with post-finasteride syndrome (PFS) since 2003.

Why I started this site

I took Propecia for about five and a half months, from October 2002 to March 2003, to slow down my hair loss. A few weeks after I stopped, the side effects began, and they have never fully gone away. You can read the full account in my story.

When I went looking for help, three doctors didn't believe me, and two told me it was all in my head. Back then there was very little written about side effects that carry on after stopping finasteride. I registered this website's address in July 2004 so that other men could find what I couldn't: an honest, first-hand account, before they start taking it.

It matters to me that my story gets out, to help stop other men going through what I have.

What this site is, and isn't

This is a personal account, not medical advice. I'm not a doctor or a scientist. Where I write about research or the regulators' warnings, I link to the original sources so you can read them for yourself.

Please talk to your GP or pharmacist before starting or stopping any medicine.

Getting in touch

If you're going through something similar, or you're thinking about taking finasteride and want to ask about my experience, you can email me. I can't give medical advice, but I'm happy to share what happened to me.

To talk to other men with PFS, the Post-Finasteride Syndrome Forum is a good place to start. You can find more support and research news on my News and Forums page.
